You can enter our Goose Themed Art Exhibition to celebrate Wild Goose Chase 2010. Why not have a go! Enter your goose themed art work, it can be a drawing, a painting or a collage or anything else you can think off! Open to all school age children. Closing date for entries is – 15th March 2010. Send them to – Drop point 717 or Fao Elizabeth Tindal, Wigtown Bay Visitor Centre, County Buildings, Wigtown, DG8 9JH. Exhibition starts Mon 5th April and ends Friday 30th April.

Get set for Wild Goose Chase 2010 running throughout March, bringing you fabulous opportunities to view the thousands of geese that over winter in the area. By travelling from Caerlaverock in the east, via Mersehead, Kelton Mains and Loch Ken, and the Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve, to Loch Ryan in the west, you can see all six species of geese that spend the winter here: barnacle, Canada, brent, pink-footed, greylag and Greenland white-fronted, as well as two species of swan, mute and whooper. This interactive exhibition will showcase the work of Artist Christian Barnes and Landscape Architect John Kennedy. The work is a culmination of sculpture and bespoke product design and highlights issues such as the productivity of a managed urban landscape, the relationship between humans and animals, the links between landscape and food production and how that food makes its way onto a plate.

Galloway Peer Project

Galloway Peer Project support young people with learning disabilities from 12 years upwards within group work sessions and on a one-to-one support basis, depending on the individuals needs.

Group work sessions are held on Monday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on a rotational basis at the following venues:

Home Start Port-a-Cabin, Sun Street, Stranraer;
Newton Stewart Community Centre, off York Road, Newton Stewart.

Galloway Peer Project’s Youth Committee also meets every second Friday to plan group work programmes, outings and residential trips.
