16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is a global campaign. It begins on the 25th November with International day Against Gender Violence and finishes on the 10th December with International Human Rights Day. 25th November is also White Ribbon Day. The white ribbon campaign believes that violence against women will never stop until men are part of the campaign to stop it. During 16 days, the Domestic Abuse and Violence Aginst Women Partnership will be running the white ribbon campaign and also supporting Rape Crisis Scotland's campaign, "This is not an invitation to rape me" www.thisisnotaninvitationtorapeme.co.uk We are being supported in the white ribbon campaign by: Dumfries Men's Hockey Club, Solway Sharks, South West Sound FM, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and Dumfries Saints Rugby Club. White ribbons are available from Charlotte Street Surgery, Dumfriesshire and Stewartry Women's Aid, Poundsaver on the Whitesands, Theatre Royal, Robert Burns Cinema, The Ice Bowl, Dumfries Men's Hockey Club, The Esso Garage, Queen St, Newton Stewart and Women's Aid Shop, Hanover St, Stranraer. Money raised will go towards helping women and children suffering abuse.
