Liz Niven is a Glasgow-born writer now based in Dumfries. She has been a teacher, a Scots language development officer, a Cultural Coordinator, has undertaken several writing residencies and been the recipient of two Scottish Arts Council awards. She has published and edited poetry collections, short story anthologies and a wide range of educational material to support the Scots Language in Education.

Her work as a poet and as a language specialist has taken her to venues across Britain, Europe and Scandinavia. Her best known poetry collections are Stravaigin and Burning Whins, and her work has been documented on ITV as Poet on a Plane.
