Further information on the Council's management structure and democratic process is available on the website.

The Council has adopted a Corporate Plan for 2003 - 2007 which highlights the main things we want to achieve and we will use it to help us decide where to target our resources. The vision is to make Dumfries and Galloway the best place in Scotland to live, learn, work, visit and grow.

Key priorities over the next four years are to:

  • alleviate poverty
  • improve services for vulnerable and older people, especially people with disabilities
  • provide a cleaner, greener, safer environment
  • work for sustainable economic regeneration
  • provide opportunities for lifelong learning
  • improve road maintenance
