Wigtown

Wigtown lies close to the shore to the head of Wigtown Bay. For many years the town was a significant port. Nowadays Wigtown’s biggest export is books. Since its launch in 1997 as Scotland’s National Book Town visitor numbers have increased dramatically. The town and surrounding villages is home to over thirty book-related businesses. Wigtown has a surprisingly gentle climate and is surrounded by beautiful views that stretch over miles of landscapes.
