The Policy and Performance Unit provides policy support to the Inclusive Communities theme of the Community Plan.
The five year vision for Inclusive Communities is:
- to enable people to have the means and motivation to make a greater contribution to the social, economic, environmental and cultural life of Dumfries and Galloway;
- to improve individuals opportunities to access services, facilities and employment; and
- to maximise the opportunity for active citizenship
The Inclusive Communities Lead Officer is the Corporate Director of Education and Community Services. Areas of work being developed under the inclusive theme include
- promoting diversity awareness and anti-discriminatory practice
- public involvement
- regeneration
- anti-poverty initiatives
and these are taken forward through a number of working groups including Community Regeneration, Diversity, Working for Families Initiative, Public Involvement, Tackling Poverty and developing a Compact between the voluntary sector and community planning partners.
